Davis working to save squadron, jobs at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Congressman Don Davis is a member of the Armed Services Committee and says he is working to keep hundreds of jobs at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro.
Davis said the president’s 2025 fiscal year budget has plans to eliminate a full fighter squadron of F-15-E aircraft at Seymour Johnson. Davis recently questioned the Secretary of the Air Force, Frank Kendall.
If this is taken away, it could mean losing jobs in the area.
“We know that Wayne County is a tier one county as defined by our Commerce Department, designated as an economically distressed community,” Davis said. “So we would be ripping out 520 jobs from Eastern North Carolina. That’s what young people have continued to tell me over and over again. They want their shot for good-paying jobs, and we can’t start this by taking away the jobs that we have.”
