Congressman Don Davis said Tuesday he would oppose efforts to oust Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson if the Louisiana Republican allows the House to vote on a $95.3 billion supplemental foreign aid package.
“I would support keeping Speaker Johnson,” said Davis, a Democrat who represents North Carolina’s 1st Congressional District. “This is about the American people, safeguarding the American people, and if the Speaker — I don’t care what his party is — if he is trying to do the right thing by the American people, by the people of eastern North Carolina, I’m going to stand with him.”
