Congressmen Don Davis & Mike Lawler Introduce Resolution Honoring Commitments to Seniors
WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Congressmen Don Davis (NC-01) and Mike Lawler (NY-17) introduced House Resolution 1564, a bipartisan resolution recognizing the need for a Social Security Promise to reaffirm support for maintaining Social Security and calling for bipartisan, bicameral solutions that ensure the health and financial well-being of seniors.
The resolution outlines the challenges seniors living on a fixed income face, including rising costs and access to essential healthcare services. The Senior Security Promise also includes a commitment to fight for the long-term solvency and viability of lifesaving programs like Social Security and Medicare.
"We must recommit ourselves to prioritizing and caring for our seniors,” said Congressman Davis. “With the rise in cost of living, Congress must take the necessary steps to ensure the financial stability of Social Security and Medicare. I am glad to join forces with Congressman Lawler to keep this promise to America’s seniors.”
“My commitment to our nation’s seniors has been ironclad,” said Congressman Lawler. “I will never cut the hard-earned benefits millions of aging Americans rely on. That’s why I’m proud to join Congressman Don Davis in reaffirming our bipartisan promise to ensure these vital programs remain strong and solvent for current retirees and for generations to come.”
