Congressman Don Davis Wins Democracy Award for Innovation and Modernization

Congressman Don Davis announces the nonpartisanCongressional Management Foundation (CMF) has selected North Carolina's First Congressional District as a Democracy Award for Extraordinary Public Service winner in the innovation and modernization category. The Office of U.S. Representative Don Davis was the only office of a first-term Congressional member selected for this prestigious award and only the second since the program's inception in 2018. 

"The exceptional efforts of our office staff demonstrate the unwavering dedication of our entire team to serving our constituents," said Congressman Don Davis. "We are committed to serving eastern North Carolina, addressing our constituents' concerns, and ensuring they never feel forgotten."

"Americans usually only hear about Congress when something goes wrong. The Democracy Awards shines a light on Congress when it does something right," said CMF's President and CEO Bradford Fitch. "These Members of Congress and their staff deserve recognition for their work to improve accountability in government, modernize their work environments, and serve their constituents. During this week, when we celebrate our democracy, it is fitting that we also celebrate those outstanding public servants who exemplify the best our democracy has to offer."

The Office of U.S. Representative Don Davis understands innovation and modernization are not the result of a single effort but a continuous practice. To this end, the team remains committed to exploring ways to enhance their office to serve constituents significantly through forward-thinking strategies. 

The Office established a Constituent Services Excellence Committee, which includes representatives from all departments, including their Director of Military, Veterans Affairs, and Hispanic Outreach, as well as the Staff Assistant or the Teen and Young Professional Mentoring and Leadership Advisory Council. The Committee is tasked with meeting, reviewing, and making recommendations to the entire staff on elevating and maintaining exceptional service levels and promoting innovation and modernization. The Committee also designated a staff member as the Congressional Modernization Representative to help advance office and congressional modernization.
