Congressman Don Davis Votes to Stand with Farmers, Deliver Disaster Relief and Prevent a Government Shutdown

January 2, 2025

Congressman Don Davis (NC-01) voted for H.R. 10545, the American Relief Act, 2025, which passed the House by a margin of 366-34-1.

“It’s do-or-die for our farmers. Many are at their wits‘ end, and the economic assistance in the continuing resolution will be the difference between whether family farms are forced to close. The continuing resolution also addresses healthcare, essential services, and aid for western North Carolina,” said Congressman Don Davis. “I stand with our farmers, western North Carolina, and families across America.

Key provisions of the stopgap funding measure include:

  • $100 billion in disaster relief funding
  • $10 billion in economic assistance for farmers hammered by increased costs and lower payments over the previous few years.
  • Extends funding for key healthcare programs, including for Special Diabetes, telehealth, and Medicare hospital payments.

A government shutdown would directly impact 6,700 federal workers, 46,000 veterans, and 174,000 seniors in North Carolina’s First Congressional District who rely on lifesaving government services.
