Congressman Don Davis Votes Again to Prevent A Government Shutdown
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Don Davis (NC-01) voted for H.R.6363, the Further Continuing Appropriations and Other Extensions Act, 2024, a two-step continuing resolution to prevent a federal government shutdown. The continuing resolution would extend current funding for the federal government in two tiers: extending funding for four appropriations bills until January 19, 2024, and extending funding for the remaining eight bills until February 2, 2024. The measure would also extend the current Farm Bill through September 2024 to allow for additional bipartisan negotiations to finalize a new Farm Bill.
“I remain steadfast in standing up for the people of North Carolina’s First Congressional District, and my vote today reflects exactly that and my commitment to the well-being of our families,” said Congressman Don Davis. “A government shutdown would have severe consequences, disrupting essential services and causing undue hardship for many families in the East. We must act responsibly and take the necessary steps to avert a government shutdown, which we have done.”
A government shutdown would directly impact 6,700 federal workers, 46,000 veterans, and 174,000 seniors in North Carolina’s First Congressional District who rely on lifesaving government services.
