January 6, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Congressman Don Davis was sworn in to represent North Carolina's First Congressional District in the 118th Congress. He released the following statement:

"I am proud to take the oath of office alongside my colleagues in the U.S. House of Representatives as we begin the 118th Congress.

"It is the honor of my lifetime to serve in Congress and represent the great people of North Carolina’s First Congressional District. I stand ready to work in a bipartisan manner to get things done — to provide fast and fair solutions to the challenges facing our residents,” said Congressman Davis. “I am pleased that we elected a Speaker, so that we can start legislating and tackling the critical issues facing NC-01’s families. Everything that I do will be informed by the needs of eastern North Carolina. I will work tirelessly to ensure access to affordable healthcare, fight for our rural communities and farmers, honor our veterans and military families, and strengthen our local economy.”

The oath of office reads: I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.
