Congressman Don Davis’ Statement on VA Funding Votes
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Don Davis (NC-01) released the following statement regarding his absence from votes in the U.S. House of Representatives on May 15, 2026, including on H.R. 8469, Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2027, the first funding bill of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 cycle. After voting on Thursday, May 14, Congressman Davis traveled to Fort Benning, Georgia, to participate in Family Day as his son, Justin, completed U.S. Army basic training.

“One of the proudest moments of my life was celebrating my son Justin’s completion of U.S. Army basic training alongside families from across America. As an Air Force veteran and, above all, a father, I am humbled and inspired by the next generation stepping forward to serve our nation. Congratulations to the new soldiers of the 3rd Battalion, 54th Regiment, and all those who are answering the call to serve,” said Congressman Don Davis.

Congressman Don Davis is a 1994 U.S. Air Force Academy graduate and a U.S. Air Force veteran. He serves as the vice ranking member of the U.S. House Armed Services Committee where he serves on the Readiness and Tactical Air and Land Forces subcommittees.
