Congressman Don Davis Announces Grant for Park Revitalization Project in Eastern North Carolina
GREENVILLE, N.C. — Today, Congressman Don Davis (NC-01) is pleased to announce that the National Park Service has awarded a Land and Water Conservation grant to the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources for renovations at Sunset Parkin Rocky Mount.
“Sunset Park has long been a symbol of unity and recreation for our residents, and these federal funds will breathe new life into its vibrant legacy,” said Congressman Don Davis. “It's more than bricks and mortar; it's about creating a gathering place where families can thrive, nature can flourish, and memories can be woven into the fabric of our community,” Davis added.
The renovations include the existing recreation amenities in the amusement and concessions areas, athletic and playground areas, and the creation of trails, natural areas, and observation areas near river access locations.
As the grant rolls out, the Office of Congressman Don Davis will work closely with the city of Rocky Mount to ensure these resources improve the lives of residents in the Rocky Mount community.
