Congressman Don Davis Announces Federal Funds for Nash Community College
Congressman Don Davis (NC-01) is pleased to announce that the National Science Foundation has awarded Nash Community College grant funding to help integrate cyber safety principles into the information technology associate degree track.
“Securing the vital resources for eastern North Carolina necessary to bolster cybersecurity knowledge and ensure the safety of community members is essential,” said Congressman Don Davis. “Expanding technical cybersecurity education can lay the foundation for a more secure cyber landscape, ultimately safeguarding the region from potential cyber threats.”
The project intends to produce skilled IT/IS technicians with essential cybersecurity knowledge to safeguard organizational data, networks, and applications. The project also includes the creation of a cyber-safe culture through the Nighthawk Cyber Alliance (NCA). Beyond IT disciplines, the NCA extends its influence to benefit non-IT faculty, students, and local businesses, fostering a community-wide commitment to cyber safety.
The NSF approved the following grants for NC-01:
