June 12, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Don Davis (NC-01) is pleased to announce the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration has awarded the Mid-East Commission with grant funding to help establish an economic development framework, process, and strategy to support private capital investment and job creation in eNC.

“Many eastern North Carolinians find a good-paying job more challenging than ever to come by and out of reach,” said Congressman Don Davis. “The Mid-East Commission, with these federal funds, will be posed to continue its crucial role in stimulating economic growth and job creation. My top priority is bringing good-paying jobs and lower prices to the East.”

This planning investment supports the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) in the region served by the Mid-East Commission, including Beaufort, Bertie, Hertford, Martin, and Pitt counties. The CEDS process brings together the public and private sectors to create an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
