Congressman Davis Announces Key Subcommittee Assignments on the U.S. House Committee on Armed Services

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Congressman Don Davis (NC-01) released the following statement announcing House Armed Services Subcommittee assignments for the 118th Congress:

“It is an honor to serve on the Subcommittee on Readiness and the Subcommittee on Military Personnel. Joining these powerful subcommittees will allow me to continue as a champion for our servicemembers while guaranteeing they have the resources needed in combat,” said Congressman Davis. “I will fight in Washington to ensure those who fight to defend our freedoms, do not have to fight their country to thrive. We owe it to our service members— the real work starts now.”

As the fourth Air Force Academy graduate to be elected to Congress, Congressman Davis knows the challenges military families face during and after their loved ones’ deployment. Congressman Davis served eight years of active duty in the Air Force earning the rank of Captain and in the North Carolina State Senate leading on military issues for over a decade.

The Subcommittee on Readiness has jurisdiction over Department of Defense policy and programs and accounts related to military readiness, training, logistics and maintenance, military construction, organic industrial base, the civilian and contract workforce, environment, military installations and real property management, family housing, base realignments and closures, and energy.

The Subcommittee on Military Personnel has jurisdiction over Department of Defense policy and programs and accounts related to military personnel and their families, Reserve Component integration and employment, military health care, military education, dependent schools, POW/MIA issues, Morale, Welfare and Recreation, commissaries, cemeteries under the jurisdiction of the Department of Defense, the Uniform Code of Military Justice, and military retirement issues.
