Congressman Davis Announces $2.6 Million VA Award for Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery Expansion
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Don Davis (NC-01) announced that the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has awarded $2,613,394 to support the expansion of the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro.
“Such a historic investment in the Veterans Cemetery Grants Program will help to expand the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, allowing more veterans to be laid to rest closer to home,” said Congressman Don Davis.
As a former U.S. Air Force mortuary officer, Congressman Davis remains committed to the support of our veterans, our military families, and the resources and programs available to them. “Our veterans should be able to receive the final honor they so rightfully deserve. They stood for America. We owe them and their families the honor, respect, and dignity they have earned,” Davis added.

The Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery is one of 21 cemeteries across the country that will receive VA cemetery grants in Fiscal Year 2026. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs will also reimburse the cost of pre-placed crypts and their delivery to the cemetery up to $2,878.
The Veterans Cemetery Grants Program is used by states, territories, and Native American tribes to establish, expand, improve, and maintain veterans cemeteries across the country. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs awarded a record $106.5 million in grants through the program in Fiscal Year 2026.
Congressman Don Davis is a 1994 U.S. Air Force Academy graduate and a U.S. Air Force veteran. He serves as the vice ranking member of the U.S. House Armed Services Committee, where he serves on the Readiness and Tactical Air and Land Forces subcommittees.
